GUESS WHAT. Tomorrow is the launch of the my new comic- Even in Arcadia. So today is all the pre-story images for the cover and chapter.
I saw many of these style of clouds when I was in Beijing. My Chinese mother-in-law even told me they have a specific Chinese name. I've forgotten in now, but I love them nonetheless.
They are also not just aesthetic. Even in Arcadia is a Fantasy steampunk allegory of 19th century China. I use steampunk with a little 's' because aesthetically it's not technically that, more that it is the conceptual meaning of the word. In this comic there will be steam technology, and it is creating major political and cultural change.
